Bespoke tailoring at Tailored Society is an intimate collaboration. What starts off as a conversation then evolves into a garment that reflects the wearer in posture, movement, and presence. Each stage is deliberate. A private process, shaped by precision, attention to detail, and craft, results in bespoke garments for the Chicago gentleman who lives with purpose.
The First Conversation
Every bespoke commission begins with a thoughtful introduction. We discuss your goals, lifestyle, wardrobe ambitions, and the moments this garment will serve. During this call, we outline the process, timeline, and investment to establish clarity and trust before the work begins.
The Private Atelier Appointment
When you’re ready to proceed, we welcome you into our appointment-only environment. This is not a consultation; it is the start of creation.
Over one to two hours, conversation unfolds among antiques, artwork, and quiet intention. A drink is poured. Ideas take shape. Chicago’s pace fades, replaced by focus, collaboration, and possibility.
The Immersive Bespoke Experience
This stage is an invitation into the craft itself. We explore cloth from the world’s finest mills, discussing how fabric weight, drape, and texture shape expression. Design direction, personal preferences, and lifestyle context guide every decision.
A comprehensive measurement and posture analysis follows. Shoulder slope, stance, balance, arm rotation, and movement are all considered. This assessment becomes the blueprint for your personal bespoke pattern, drafted exclusively for you.
The Basted Fitting
Four to five weeks later, the garment returns in basted form, roughly half complete and ready to be sculpted. Here, we evaluate structure against posture, refine balance and drape, and adjust the pattern's architecture.
Every mark is intentional. Every change is recorded. The garment then returns to our cutter, where refinements are translated into your personal paper pattern, serving as the foundation for the final stage of handcraft.
Pattern Finalization & Handcraft
With refinements complete, your definitive bespoke pattern is established as a one-of-one draft shaped to your body and movement. The garment then enters full construction within our tailoring workshop, an 8–10 week process guided by master hands.
A bespoke sports coat receives over sixty hours of handwork. A suit exceeds one hundred. From canvassing and pad stitching to lapel roll, collar shaping, sleeve setting, and internal structure, each element is built by hand with intentional variation only artisans can achieve.
As completion nears, the garment returns for its third fitting, where silhouette, comfort, and presence are refined.
The Final Fitting & Established Pattern
The final fitting reveals the finished garment, the result of weeks of collaboration, discipline, and craft. Subtle refinements may still be made, ensuring balance, comfort, and elegance align perfectly.
Your bespoke pattern is then formally archived, becoming the starting point for all future commissions. What began as a single garment evolves into an ongoing sartorial relationship, where each creation deepens personalization and precision.
