Commission a Bespoke Suit
in Indianapolis
Tailored Society builds custom suits for Indianapolis men from a pattern we draft by hand, and our appointment-only studio sits twenty-five minutes north of downtown in Carmel. Google shows 202 reviews of that studio, and none are below five stars. That hand-drafted pattern decides everything. Custom shops around the city start you on a stock size 40 regular block cut for an average build, then pin it nearer to your measurements. A block shaped for someone else will only come so close to your own shoulders.
Commission with us and you walk into a boardroom at Eli Lilly in a suit cut to your own posture, and your pattern stays on file for everything you order after.
Commission More Than a Suit
Suits opened our business, and you can now bring us the piece no rack in the city carries.
| What you commission | What we do | Investment starts at |
|---|---|---|
| Shirt | Collar and cuff built to your neck and wrist | $375 |
| Trousers | Drafted to your seat and rise | $775 |
| Sport jacket | Same bespoke process, softer construction | $2,150 |
| Bespoke suit | Hand-drafted pattern, handwork throughout | $2,550 |
| Tuxedo | Black-tie commission for a milestone event | $2,650 |
You rarely walk in asking for a garment. You walk in with an occasion, and Indianapolis keeps that list shorter than most cities its size.
Why you commission it
Signature Wardrobe
You need a handful of pieces that combine into a dozen looks
Wedding commissions
You are marrying at the Crowne Plaza or Omni Severn downtown, and you want the suit to outlive the photographs
Exotic-skin bombers and luggage
You want a one-of-one piece keyed to the paint on the car you bring out in May
Casual wear and private-jet throws
You keep a second address in a warmer climate and want one Indianapolis studio handling both closets
Rush, our made-to-measure track
You face a two-week deadline. Machines build the garment, so we never call it bespoke
Compare Us to the Other Custom Shops in Town
Most men reach us after a showroom appointment at the Fashion Mall or a fitting in a downtown office tower, and they arrive with the same complaints. Set those rooms beside ours before you commit a deposit.
| Your problem | Tailored Society | Other custom shops |
|---|---|---|
| Nothing fits my shoulders | We draft your paper pattern from scratch, then cut a basted test garment around week five and revise that pattern before we touch your cloth | They start from a stock block and alter it toward your measurements, then still claim a perfect fit |
| I want to know what my money built | We name the skin and the mill behind every hand-finished detail | They lean on heritage language every competitor also claims |
| I don't know what to buy or how much | We publish $2,550 on this page and size your wardrobe to your calendar | They quote only after the appointment, then push fifteen garments on a client who needs three |
| Someone quoted me four weeks for a bespoke suit | We tell you four to six months and two fittings, because handwork runs that long | They advertise four or five weeks, a timeline only a machine-sewn garment can meet |
| Showrooms waste my afternoon | We hold the studio for one client per appointment and take no walk-ins | They run an open floor and hand you to whoever happens to be free |
| I need more than suits | We build exotic-skin luggage, and private-jet throws in the same studio | They stop at suits and sport coats |
| I might not be the right fit | We name the shop that suits you better, and we lose the sale | They close the sale and let you find the mismatch at delivery |
Follow Your Garment From Pattern to Delivery
You’ll drive to Carmel twice over four to six months. We keep each fitting to an hour and schedule both around your travel.
| Stage | Timing | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| First appointment | Week 1 | We measure you and read your posture, then open the fabric cabinet |
| Basted fitting | Around week 5 | You try on a scrap test garment so we can mark it and rewrite your pattern |
| Cutting and handwork | 8 to 10 weeks | Our tailor shop cuts your cloth and builds the garment by hand |
| Second fitting | At 90–95% complete | Heat and steam shift every fabric differently, so we correct what moved |
| Final alterations | About one week | Our in-house tailor finishes the garment for delivery |
Four to six months and two fittings put the garment in your hands. We ask for a 50% deposit at order and the balance at delivery.

Get Your Answers Before You Reach Out
How do you draft for shoulders that sit at different heights?
We measure the drop at the first appointment and draft the pattern around it, then confirm the correction on your basted garment in week five.
Can you work from a jacket I already love?
Bring it to the appointment. We read what that cutter got right and draw those lines into the pattern we draft for you.
How far ahead do I start for black tie in May?
Open the commission by December. Four to six months and two fittings finish the tuxedo before Rev at the Speedway, and it dresses every May after that one.
What should I bring to an appointment someone else booked for me?
Your next three months. We name the pieces that cover the calendar, then build in the order your dates require.
